Founded by brothers Floyd and Fred Chavez, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works Inc. was established in 1989. Having over 20 years of knowledge and experience as local area Fence Erectors, the brothers began in a 1200 square foot shop and office. Primarily servicing the Greater San Francisco Bay Area with a C13 License, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works began working with Public Works Offices, School Districts – including working with industrial offices such as Kellogs and Public Storage.
Continuing to establish themselves as a recognized industry leader in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Brothers Chavez purchased a 800 square foot shop (with modular office) in San Lorenzo, California; located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. While continuing to work with Public Works Offices of California, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works began working with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and both Local and International Airports.
A new location was not the only expansion; it was this year that the Brothers Chavez added Access Control Services and began in-house Custom Iron Fabrication to their portfolio.
In this year of expansion and growth, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works was recognized and awarded by The State of California for their craftsmanship for Hand Railing on a bridge commissioned in Emeryville, California.
Over the course of the next several years the brothers continued their dedication and commitment as recognized industry leaders though out Northern California with the purchase of an additional office and the expansion into a 30,000 square foot warehouse. During this time Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works upgraded and gained additional licencing – including A10, B10, and C10 licenses.
Having experience and working with his family for many years, Paul Chavez began client and project estimations while taking more of an active role in the company. It was in these seven years that the company had two projects with two separate state prisons – running simultaneously. Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works completed both projects totaling $3.7 million each.
Recognized for their excellence and dedication, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works was awarded the “Electric Fence Safety Project” for every state penitentiary facility in The State of California.
Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works continues to expand into other industries and businesses including Custom Fabrication Iron Works projects for both Pixar Animation Studios and Intel Corp.
Further growth saw the need for the expansion of a 30,000 square foot office primarily operating in The San Francisco Bay Area; Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works continued to receive more projects in Custom Fabrication Iron Works projects. Additional industries and high profile projects included working with Caltrain (California commuter rail line on the San Francisco Peninsula and in the Santa Clara Valley.), Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (Mass Transportation System), and The Ion State Juvenile Facility.
It is at this time that Floyd Chavez made the transition into “Semi-Retirement”. He would be stepping down and allowing his two sons Paul and Nick Chavez to continue the established legacy of Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works – while serving the company in a position of advisory and guidance.
With a long standing and established recognition in The San Francisco Bay Area, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works purchased an office in Stockton, California. This location included two buildings on six acres to expand reach into and better serve The Central Valley area.
Like many others, it was during these five years that the recession forced Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works to cut back on manpower. Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works was fortunate to be in a good position. Through guidance and leadership, brothers Paul and Nick Chavez were able to sustain the company through the recession.
Approached by San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD Bus company in Stockton, California) about the six acre property, Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works sold that property and was able to purchase two buildings in Stockton, California – each building totaling 15,000 square feet.
Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works now has a well established brand and recognition in both The San Francisco Bay Area and The Central Valley.
It is the end of an era and the dawn of a new age for Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works. Brothers Paul Chavez and Nick Chavez are legally made the owners of Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works Inc.
With determination to continue growth and expansion; Paul and Nick look to the future and begin work on expanding other surrounding states – while continuing to strive to be one of the highest respected companies on the west coast.
In 2018 Golden Bay Fence Plus Iron Works acquires licences to operate in both The State of Nevada and The State of Washington. At this time an office is purchased in Las Vegas, Nevada to assist with projects in that area.
Paul and Nick Chavez continue to elevate the company to another level by adding to their Project Portfolio to now include Data Centers, Stadiums, High Security Perimeter Bollards, and Bio-Metric Access Controls.
