Introduction
The Van Ness Corridor multi agency project brought the first Bus Rapid Transit system to San Francisco. The durable vehicle barriers protect boarding platforms and islands from heavy traffic on Van Ness Avenue as commuters board along dedicated bus lanes. These lengthy custom barriers, with subtle undulating lines, provide a visual contrast to extensive landscaping as well. The horizontal open pattern serves a dual function as a visual barrier from traffic while also being sufficiently transparent to see the other side of the street.
